Dear Friend, Subscriber, and Aspiring Dog Whistle Brand Owner,
Business owners love to plan. However, planning isn't synonymous with execution unless you have an effective management system in place.
This is where Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) come in. In her book, "Radical Focus: Achieving Your Most Important Goals with Objectives and Key Results," Christine Wodtke describes the following OKR process:
Set 1-2 inspiring and measurable goals, similar to Big Hairy Audacious Goals, that will drive significant value in your business for the quarter.
Ensure continuous progress toward the desired end state, regardless of other conflicting tasks at hand.
Establish a cadence of accountability to track progress towards your goals.
Let's take IRONBOUND Media as a case study. Below is our quarterly plan:
Objective: The IRONBOUND Media Authority Machine is a well-oiled machine, solidifying our position as a go-to resource for branding strategy and podcast production.
Key Result 1: Generate revenue of over 100k+ in Q3.
Key Result 2: All content content is edited and uploaded at least 21 days prior to its release.
Key Result 3: We generate a consistent stream of warm leads via our authority machine, reducing reliance on direct one-on-one reach-outs.
Implied tasks:
Create and execute an ideal workweek that maximizes deep work, efficiency, and revenue generation.
Objective 2: Alana and I have finished recording the audiobook version of "Black Veteran Entrepreneur" and have submitted it for publishing.
Key Result 1: All necessary recording sessions are booked and confirmed.
Key Result 2: New Degree Publishing receives weekly updates and all necessary content.
Key Result 3: The Audiobook is complete and we have begun work on our next book, "Differentiate or Die/Dog Whistle Branding."
